China Visa Application Status in Nigeria: Guide

To check your China visa application status in Nigeria, sign in through the official visa centre used for your application. Read the status together with any email or document request. Completing the first online review does not mean your visa has been issued.

For a Nigerian trader planning a Guangzhou buying trip, the useful question is which stage needs attention: online review, corrections, passport submission or collection. For the full process, see our China visa application guide for Nigerians.

Where can you check your application status? #

Start with the official Abuja visa centre portal or Lagos visa centre portal. Both provide a tracking option that directs applicants to sign in.

Use the centre associated with your application. An account or reference from one location should not be treated as a reason to submit documents at another.

Keep the registered email address, application reference and passport details available. Enter sensitive details through the official portal or a verified centre contact.

Our guides to the Abuja China visa centre and Lagos China visa centre explain the local arrangements. Check each centre’s current notices before visiting.

How do you track the correct application? #

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the official portal for your centre.
  2. Sign in using the email account used to register.
  3. Open the application list or tracking section available to you.
  4. Match the record to your passport and application reference.
  5. Read any review comments and check your email, including spam folders.

If the dashboard offers a search by application number, voucher number or passport number, use the reference from your own record. Save a dated copy of the result for your files.

A form saved for later is not necessarily a submitted application. Confirm that you completed submission, rather than assuming an unfinished draft has entered review.

If someone applied on your behalf, ask which email address holds the account and request the submission record.

What do the online review messages mean? #

Your China visa application status in Nigeria is useful when read with the accompanying instructions. Common messages include:

A completion email may also provide an application confirmation or certificate for the next step. Follow the instructions for your particular record; screen wording can vary.

For example, an Aba trader may be asked to correct an invitation whose travel dates differ from the form. Ask the inviting company for an accurate document and use our China visa invitation-letter guide.

If the request concerns the photograph, check our China visa photo requirements.

Does online approval mean your visa is issued? #

Approval of the initial online review allows the application to move to the next stage. It is not the issued visa.

The Chinese Embassy’s online application FAQ describes initial online review, followed by passport and document submission and a further review stage.

The Lagos centre’s online submission notice tells applicants to print the emailed application certificate and proceed with submission.

Follow your centre’s instructions. Prepare the passport, confirmation or certificate, and supporting documents. Business travellers can use our China business-visa document checklist.

For payment planning, consult the current centre instructions and our China visa fee guide. Keep the submission receipt and collection slip.

Why is your application still under review? #

First identify which review you are waiting for.

If you have only uploaded documents, you are waiting at the online stage. If you have already submitted your passport and documents, you are following the later processing stage.

Check whether a correction request was missed. Also check the centre’s working days and holiday notices before counting calendar days as processing days.

The Embassy’s FAQ states that selecting express processing does not shorten the initial online review. Express arrangements relate to the subsequent stage after preliminary review and physical submission.

Avoid treating another applicant’s experience as your deadline. Our China visa processing-time guide explains the timing questions to ask.

The official Abuja application guide also describes the expected collection date as a reference; actual completion can differ.

How do you contact the centre about a delay? #

Use the centre handling your application. Its current contact pages list:

Include your name, application reference, submission date, current status and the question you need answered. Explain whether your passport has been submitted.

Message you can adapt:

I submitted application [reference] through [Abuja or Lagos] on [date]. The current status is [exact wording]. My passport [has or has not] been submitted. Please confirm whether any correction or additional document is required.

If an agent handled submission, request the actual record rather than relying on a verbal update. Our China visa-agent guide explains what to clarify.

A pending status alone does not establish refusal. If you receive a refusal notification, follow its instructions and consult our visa rejection guide.

What should you check before travelling? #

Follow the collection instructions issued for your application. When the passport is returned, inspect the visa details before committing to the trip.

Check your name, passport number, entries, validity and permitted duration of stay. Our visa validity and duration guide explains those differences.

Review cancellation and change terms when comparing flights from Nigeria to Guangzhou, particularly while the application remains unfinished.

Use the waiting period to prepare supplier communication: complete any WeChat verification and, if sourcing online, set up your 1688 buyer account.

ChinaBridge can help review your document checklist and buying-trip preparation. Visa decisions remain with the authorities. Check your China visa application status in Nigeria through the official centre, respond to its requests and retain the records for each stage.
