Guangzhou Wholesale Markets for Nigerian Buyers: Clothes, Fabric, Hair, Electronics & More

Guangzhou is one of the most important sourcing cities in China for Nigerian and other African buyers.

But there is no single Guangzhou wholesale market.

Clothing is in one part of the city.

Fabric is somewhere else.

Hair and cosmetics have their own cluster.

Electronics, bags, jewellery and gifts each have separate markets, opening times and metro stations.

That is why a first-time buyer can easily waste two days moving around Guangzhou without reaching the right suppliers.

This guide shows where to buy in Guangzhou, what each wholesale market specialises in and which markets make the most sense for Nigerian importers.

Best Guangzhou wholesale markets at a glance #

If you only need the quick answer:

Now the important part: which one should you actually visit?

Guangzhou clothing wholesale markets #

Clothing is one of the main reasons Nigerian traders come to Guangzhou.

But the major clothing markets serve different buyers.

Shahe Clothing Wholesale Market #

Best for: cheap fashion, jeans, women's clothing, men's casual wear and fast-moving stock.

Shahe is one of Guangzhou's major low-price clothing wholesale districts.

The most important thing to know is the time.

Go early.

Wholesale trading starts at around 5am, and much of the serious buying is finished before midday.

On weekdays, many parts of the market are already winding down around 11am.

If somebody tells you:

“Let's go to Shahe after lunch.”

you are going at the wrong time.

Shahe is useful for Nigerian buyers looking for:

Prices can be very competitive, but quality varies.

Check the actual goods you are buying rather than assuming every piece matches the sample hanging outside the shop.

Metro: Line 6, Shaheding area.

Shisanhang Clothing Wholesale Market #

Best for: women's fashion, knitwear, jeans, shirts, casual clothing and trend-led stock.

Shisanhang sits between Shahe's low-price wholesale model and Baima's more polished showrooms.

The important rule here is also:

Go in the morning.

This is a fast-moving wholesale district where traders buy stock early and redistribute it elsewhere.

Do not plan Shisanhang as a late-afternoon shopping trip.

It works particularly well when you want:

For Nigerian boutique owners who do not yet want factory quantities, this can be more practical than manufacturing.

Baima Clothing Wholesale Market #

Best for: better-finished garments, established suppliers, women's fashion and mid-to-higher-end stock.

Baima sits beside Guangzhou Railway Station at 16 Zhannan Road.

It is easier for a first-time international buyer to navigate than Shahe.

Trading is roughly:

9am to 6pm

rather than the extreme early-morning schedule of Shahe.

Different floors serve different price levels, so do not judge the entire building from the first floor you enter.

Around Baima you will also find other clothing centres including parts of the Liuhua and railway-station garment cluster.

Metro: Guangzhou Railway Station, Lines 2 and 5.

If you are buying garments specifically for Nigeria, remember that wholesale stock and factory manufacturing are two different strategies.

A market is better for variety.

A factory becomes more useful once you need hundreds of pieces of one proven design.

Baiyun and Panyu garment sourcing #

Not every garment order should be bought from a central Guangzhou market.

Baiyun and Panyu have large garment-production and trading ecosystems, and many suppliers selling in central markets are connected to factories elsewhere in Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta.

This becomes more relevant when you need:

If your plan is to buy clothing rather than just visit markets, read our wider shoes and fashion sourcing guide before committing to an order.

Zhongda Fabric Market #

Best for: fabric, lace, zips, buttons, trims, linings, textile accessories and fashion production.

Zhongda is not one building.

It is a huge textile district in Haizhu, made up of dozens of connected markets and thousands of suppliers.

The most organised building is Guangzhou International Textile City, but the surrounding streets contain far more suppliers.

You can source:

If you manufacture clothing, this is one of the most useful areas in Guangzhou.

Is Zhongda still open in 2026? #

Yes.

There has been a wider government-backed movement of parts of Guangzhou's textile and garment manufacturing industry toward the Guangzhou-Qingyuan textile industrial zone.

But Zhongda is still operating as a major textile trading district in Haizhu in 2026.

Do not confuse movement of factories and production capacity with the entire wholesale market suddenly disappearing.

If you are travelling specifically for one supplier, confirm its current address before your flight because individual businesses can move.

For very large fabric programmes, especially when you are buying by the container rather than a few rolls, also compare Guangzhou with Zhejiang.

Our Keqiao textile market guide explains when Keqiao becomes the better sourcing trip.

Bags and leather markets in Guangzhou #

The major Guangzhou leather-goods cluster is around:

Guihuagang, Sanyuanli and Baiyun World Leather Trading Centre.

You will find suppliers for:

Many factories supplying these markets are located elsewhere in Guangdong, including the wider Huadu area.

Nigerian buyers: check this before buying bags #

This is where a normal Guangzhou sourcing guide can cause a Nigerian importer serious trouble.

Nigeria's current import-prohibition schedule includes bags and suitcases, alongside broad restrictions on footwear with limited exceptions.

So seeing thousands of bags being sold legally in Guangzhou does not mean you can automatically ship them commercially into Nigeria.

Before placing a commercial bag or footwear order, check the current Nigerian Customs prohibition schedule and exact HS classification.

Our shoes and bags from China guide explains the Nigerian side before you pay a supplier.

Hair, wigs and cosmetics markets in Guangzhou #

Guangzhou Beauty Exchange Centre #

Best for: wigs, hair products, beauty tools, cosmetic packaging, nail products, skincare and beauty supplies.

The Guangzhou Beauty Exchange Centre is around Guangyuan West Road in Yuexiu, close to the Sanyuanli and railway-station trading areas.

Current listed hours are roughly:

9am to 6pm

This area is particularly relevant to African buyers.

Depending on the building and seller, you will find:

Hair and cosmetics should not automatically be treated as the same import category.

Cosmetics entering Nigeria can involve NAFDAC requirements that do not necessarily apply in the same way to ordinary hair products.

Our human hair from China to Nigeria guide explains the sourcing and Nigerian import side in more detail.

What happened to Xingfa Plaza? #

Xingfa has long been associated with Guangzhou's cosmetics trade.

However, Xingfa Plaza Phase II was cleared for redevelopment, and merchants were moved to nearby markets including other beauty wholesale centres.

The redevelopment was scheduled toward completion around the end of 2026.

That means an old YouTube video, WhatsApp address or supplier location may no longer take you to the stall you expected.

Before visiting Xingfa, message the supplier and request:

Do this before entering the taxi.

Electronics markets in Guangzhou #

Guangzhou has electronics markets, but you need to choose according to the product.

Gangding and Tianhe computer markets #

Best for: laptops, computer components, networking equipment, peripherals and IT accessories.

The Gangding commercial area around Tianhe Road still contains computer and electronics traders.

Look around:

Metro: Gangding, Line 3.

This area makes more sense for computers and IT hardware than for somebody travelling to China specifically to buy thousands of mobile-phone components.

Dashatou electronics market #

Best for: second-hand phones, cameras, computers, accessories and used electronic equipment.

Dashatou remains active in 2026 and is especially known for second-hand and refurbished electronics.

You can find:

For Nigerian traders buying used phones, the price should never be the only test.

Check:

Two suppliers can both call a phone Grade A and mean different things.

Our buying phones from China to Nigeria guide covers the checks in detail.

Guangzhou or Shenzhen for electronics? #

For general accessories and small mixed electronic orders, Guangzhou can work.

For serious electronics sourcing, components and the deepest supplier ecosystem, Shenzhen is usually the stronger trip.

Huaqiangbei is roughly a high-speed-train trip away from Guangzhou and has a much deeper electronics supply chain.

Read our Shenzhen electronics market guide before deciding which city deserves your time.

Toys, gifts and small household products #

Best for: toys, gifts, artificial flowers, decor, stationery, party products and small household items.

OneLink is at:

39 Jiefang South Road, Yuexiu District

Official trading hours are approximately:

9am to 7pm

Metro: Haizhu Square, Lines 2 and 6, Exit B.

The building is useful for buyers who want many categories without travelling to several industrial towns.

You can source:

For small quantities, Guangzhou can be convenient.

For a business built around hundreds of different low-cost products, compare it with Yiwu.

Our Yiwu wholesale market guide for Nigerian buyers explains the difference.

Jewellery, beads and accessories #

Liwan Plaza #

Liwan Plaza is one of Guangzhou's main jewellery and bead trading centres.

Look here for:

Many shops begin serious trading later than the clothing markets, with current listings putting Liwan's jewellery activity around late morning to early evening.

This is one market where arriving at 6am gives you no advantage.

Where should Nigerian traders stay in Guangzhou? #

For buyers doing business with African-oriented traders, freight companies and wholesalers, the traditional areas to know are:

Baohan Street and the surrounding Xiaobei area remain associated with African, Middle Eastern and international traders, restaurants and businesses.

Sanyuanli and Guangyuan West are particularly useful when your business involves clothing, beauty products, footwear, freight and Africa-facing wholesalers.

But do not choose accommodation only because somebody says:

“All Nigerians stay here.”

Choose based on the markets you actually need.

If your main reason for visiting Guangzhou is the Canton Fair at Pazhou, staying near the exhibition complex can save hours of commuting.

Our hotels near the Canton Fair guide covers that option.

Accommodation registration in China #

If you stay in a hotel, the hotel normally registers your accommodation information with the authorities.

If you stay somewhere other than a hotel, such as an apartment or private residence, accommodation registration is required within 24 hours of arrival.

China expanded online registration for non-hotel accommodation nationwide in September 2026.

That is worth remembering if you are staying with a friend, using an apartment or spending weeks sourcing goods.

Keep your passport and immigration status valid throughout the trip.

How to work Guangzhou wholesale markets #

Do not enter a market and immediately start buying.

First compare.

For each product:

  1. Visit several suppliers
  2. Photograph the product
  3. Photograph the stall number
  4. Record the supplier's WeChat
  5. Ask the MOQ
  6. Ask prices at several quantities
  7. Confirm whether the price includes packaging
  8. Check the actual quality
  9. Ask whether the goods are ready stock or need production
  10. Return to the strongest supplier

You will forget where a product came from after visiting thirty stalls.

Always photograph the shop sign before photographing the goods.

Set up payment before you go #

China is highly digital for everyday payments.

Before travelling, make sure you understand how you will pay for:

Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used.

Keep some yuan as backup, but do not arrive expecting every transaction to work like a Nigerian cash market.

For larger supplier payments, use a proper business payment route and retain the paperwork.

Get a China warehouse address before buying #

This is one of the most practical things a first-time Nigerian buyer can do.

Before walking into the market, have the address of the warehouse that will receive your goods.

Then every supplier can deliver to the same location.

Your warehouse can:

Without a warehouse plan, you can finish a successful buying day with goods from six suppliers and nowhere sensible to send them.

Our guide on shipping goods from China to Nigeria explains how the China warehouse and consolidation process works.

A practical Guangzhou market schedule #

Do not visit Guangzhou markets randomly.

Group them.

Early morning #

Go to clothing markets such as:

Shahe or Shisanhang

because that trade starts early.

Mid-morning #

Move to:

Baima, Railway Station, Beauty Exchange Centre or Sanyuanli

depending on what you buy.

Afternoon #

Use the afternoon for markets with normal daytime schedules such as:

Zhongda, OneLink, Liwan or electronics markets.

This simple planning can save an entire day.

Guangzhou wholesale market or Canton Fair? #

They solve different problems.

At the Canton Fair, you are more likely to meet export-oriented manufacturers and companies prepared for larger international orders.

At the Guangzhou wholesale markets, you can:

Many serious Nigerian buyers use both.

They visit the Canton Fair for factories and then use Guangzhou's markets for price comparison, samples and ready stock.

If this is your first sourcing trip, our how to attend the Canton Fair from Nigeria guide covers the trip from registration and visa preparation to sourcing in Guangzhou.

Which Guangzhou wholesale market should you visit? #

Use the product to decide.

Clothes: Shahe, Shisanhang or Baima.

Fabric: Zhongda.

Hair and beauty: Beauty Exchange Centre and the Sanyuanli cluster.

Leather goods: Guihuagang and Baiyun — but check Nigerian import restrictions first.

Computers: Gangding.

Used electronics: Dashatou.

Phones and electronics at scale: compare Guangzhou with Shenzhen.

Toys and gifts: OneLink.

Jewellery and beads: Liwan Plaza.

Do not try to visit all of them.

A successful Guangzhou sourcing trip is not measured by how many markets you walked through.

It is measured by whether you found the right supplier, recorded the correct specification, knew your Nigerian import requirements and had somewhere reliable to receive the goods after you paid.

Arrive with a product list, target quantity, target price and warehouse address.

Guangzhou becomes much easier when you know exactly what you came to buy.
