Block Making Machines from China to Nigeria: Buying Guide
Buying block making machines from China to Nigeria? Compare moulds, output, complete setups, supplier checks, shipping and import requirements before paying.

Block Making Machines from China to Nigeria: Buying Guide
Buying block making machines from China to Nigeria starts with the blocks you intend to sell: their exact dimensions, required quality and realistic daily demand. Those details determine the mould, machine configuration, handling system and production space you need.
A low machine price can leave out the mixer, production pallets, extra moulds, installation and equipment needed to move fresh blocks. A large daily output claim can also describe a different block size from yours.
This guide explains how Nigerian block producers, contractors and equipment dealers can compare quotations, check suppliers and budget for delivery and commissioning.
What should you specify before comparing machines? #
Prepare a product brief before requesting prices. Include the intended block type, dimensioned drawing, production target, available site and delivery city in Nigeria.
Ask a competent concrete specialist or testing laboratory to identify the applicable product standard and acceptance tests. The machine specification and the finished block specification both belong in the purchase discussion.
Your brief should state:
- Hollow blocks, solid blocks, paving blocks or another defined product.
- Exact length, width, height, void pattern and wall details in millimetres.
- Required product class, testing standard and intended application.
- Target accepted output per shift and planned working hours.
- Available electrical supply, water, site dimensions and handling equipment.
Confirm what local customers actually order before choosing multiple moulds. Starting with a defined product makes competing quotations easier to compare and reduces spending on formats you may not use.
Which level of automation fits your block business? #
Ask each supplier to explain who performs every operation: batching, mixing, feeding, pressing, pallet movement, curing transfer and finished product stacking.
A quotation described as automatic may automate only part of that sequence. Get an itemised equipment list and a layout showing the actual labour and handling requirements.
For a smaller operation, compare the staffing and movement involved in the proposed setup. For a larger plant, compare how the mixer, press and handling equipment work together throughout a shift.
Masa's production documentation shows that a block plant includes multiple matched stages, extending beyond the block making machine itself. Use that principle when reviewing a Chinese supplier's complete plant claim.
Can one machine make 6-inch blocks, 9-inch blocks and pavers? #
Request separate written confirmation for every product. A supplier should identify the required mould, compatible machine configuration, pieces per cycle and any additional equipment or changeover work.
Do not order solely with the descriptions "6-inch" or "9-inch." Send drawings in millimetres and obtain signed approval of the dimensions and void pattern. A familiar market name does not replace a technical drawing.
For each mould, ask for:
- A drawing showing the actual finished product.
- The number of products formed per cycle.
- Mould materials, replaceable wear components and warranty terms.
- The changeover procedure, tools and estimated downtime.
- A separate replacement mould price and manufacturing lead time.
If you also want paving blocks, clarify the finish, colour process and any facing layer equipment. Treat a different product as a separate specification to verify during the trial.
How many blocks can the machine realistically produce daily? #
Compare block making machines from China to Nigeria using the same product drawing, mould and shift assumptions.
Ask whether the quoted cycle includes filling and block discharge, how many usable production hours are assumed, and whether rejects are deducted. Request the assumptions behind any daily capacity figure.
HESS's published machine documentation links output to machine availability, product format, raw materials, moulds and related plant equipment. A catalogue total therefore needs its operating conditions attached.
Illustrative calculation, not a machine rating:
- Four blocks per cycle at 30 seconds per cycle gives 480 blocks per operating hour.
- Eight uninterrupted operating hours would give 3,840 blocks formed.
- Six effective operating hours within that shift gives 2,880 blocks formed.
- If 5% are ultimately rejected, 2,736 blocks remain accepted.
These assumptions are invented for comparison. Accepted output also depends on curing and test results; freshly formed blocks are not automatically ready for sale or structural use.
What equipment, pallets and site preparation are needed? #
Ask the supplier to mark every included item on the plant layout. Check the mixer, material feed, conveyors, press, moulds, hydraulic unit, controls, production pallets and handling equipment.
For a stationary pallet system, confirm pallet dimensions, material, loading limits, flatness requirements and return arrangements. Masa's process description shows production pallets travelling with fresh products through curing before returning to production.
In the illustrative four-block example, 2,880 blocks represent 720 pallet loads if each cycle uses one pallet. That calculation does not establish the number of physical pallets to buy. Pallets still occupied by earlier production must also be counted.
Have the supplier and your technical adviser size the pallet stock against the approved production and handling process.
Before dispatch, resolve:
- Foundation drawings, floor loading and machine anchoring requirements.
- Electrical load schedule, starting demand, protection and earthing design.
- Water supply, drainage and raw material storage.
- Space for curing, product storage and safe vehicle movement.
- Unloading, lifting, commissioning and operator training responsibilities.
Use qualified local professionals to approve the site and utilities. Obtain a dated site readiness checklist so installation is not delayed by missing foundations or power connections.
How do you check a Chinese block machine supplier? #
Request the supplier's registered company name, business licence, factory address and a quotation identifying the exact manufacturer and model.
Ask for a live factory walkthrough and evidence of comparable equipment being built or tested. Confirm which company manufactures the machine, which company exports it and which company receives payment.
If the bank beneficiary differs from the contracting company, resolve and document the relationship before paying. A marketplace profile or a forwarded video does not establish those relationships.
Use our guide to checking a Chinese supplier before payment to structure the verification.
Check service arrangements separately. Ask who will diagnose a fault in Nigeria, what remote support covers, and how replacement parts will be identified, priced and shipped.
What should a pre-shipment inspection prove? #
Agree a factory acceptance test before paying the deposit. The test should cover the actual machine, purchased moulds and agreed production configuration.
Request a representative material trial. If Nigerian raw materials cannot be used, record the trial materials and have your technical adviser assess the limitations of applying the results locally.
The inspection brief should include:
- Model, serial number, nameplate and component identification.
- Purchased mould dimensions and pieces produced per cycle.
- Timed production with interruptions and rejected pieces recorded.
- Guarding, emergency stops and other safety functions checked by a competent inspector.
- Pallet feed, block handling and mould changeover demonstrations.
- Included spares, manuals, electrical drawings and packing list reconciliation.
Arrange independent testing of trial blocks to the agreed standard where appropriate. Appearance alone does not establish strength or suitability for an intended application.
Define what happens if the equipment fails acceptance: correction, retest, payment hold or another agreed remedy. Put those terms in the contract.

What import compliance should Nigerian buyers confirm? #
Before shipment, have your licensed customs agent confirm the equipment description, classification, valuation basis and required documents. Check the exact machinery configuration and its intended use with SON.
SON's import permit guidance says eligible manufacturers may apply for an import permit, subject to evaluation of the importer, documents and intended use. Equipment imported for subsequent sale follows the relevant product certification route. Manufacturer status does not create an automatic permit approval.
SON's March 2026 notice moved specified import permit and SONCAP processes to the National Single Window. Offshore certificates issued through accredited firms still require activation through the NSW for the stated import processes. Confirm the current workflow before filing.
Read our SONCAP requirements guide, then obtain confirmation for your shipment.
Separately, confirm the Nigerian standards and certification obligations for the blocks you will manufacture. Import documentation for a machine does not establish the quality of its finished products.
How are block making machines shipped to Nigeria? #
Obtain a packing plan before booking freight. Request each package's external dimensions, gross weight, lifting points and stacking restrictions, including the mixer, moulds and production pallets.
Illustrative packing calculation:
- Press crate: 2.2 × 1.8 × 2.1 metres = 8.316 CBM.
- Mixer crate: 1.6 × 1.4 × 1.5 metres = 3.360 CBM.
- Mould and spares crate: 1.2 × 1.0 × 0.9 metres = 1.080 CBM.
- Subtotal for these three crates: 12.756 CBM.
This subtotal excludes production pallets and other equipment. Replace it with the final packing list. Volume alone cannot confirm container suitability; package dimensions, weight distribution, access and lifting arrangements also matter.
Ask your forwarder to assess consolidation versus a dedicated container and quote the complete destination scope. Clarify insurance, port charges, delivery and unloading responsibilities.
Our cost per CBM from China to Nigeria guide explains which charges to ask about.
What does a complete block machine project cost? #
The cost of block making machines from China to Nigeria depends on the machine configuration, moulds, automation, production pallets, shipment and Nigerian site requirements. A factory machine price covers only part of the project.
Fictional budgeting example: these are invented figures, not current market prices or a supplier quotation.
- Equipment and agreed accessories: ₦9,500,000.
- China inland movement, export handling and inspection: ₦1,000,000.
- International freight and insurance: ₦2,200,000.
- Provisional duties, taxes, regulatory and destination charges: ₦3,000,000.
- Nigerian delivery, unloading, site work and commissioning: ₦2,300,000.
- Contingency and initial operating reserve: ₦2,000,000.
- Total illustrative cash budget: ₦20,000,000.
Replace every allowance with dated quotations and a shipment-specific customs assessment. State the exchange rate, quote validity and exclusions. The provisional import charges above are not a tariff rate.
Budget separately for land or rent, raw materials, staffing and any equipment omitted from the selected scope. Estimate operating cost per accepted block, allowing for rejects, maintenance and finance costs.
Use our landed cost from China to Nigeria guide to organise the import calculation.
What should you send suppliers for a comparable quotation? #
Send the same request to each shortlisted supplier. Attach product drawings and ask them to identify every exclusion.
Copy this quotation brief:
Please quote a block production setup for delivery to [city, Nigeria]. Attached are our product drawings and target accepted output per shift. Specify the machine model, automation scope, moulds, cycle assumptions, mixer, pallets, handling equipment, electrical requirements, site layout and all exclusions.
Please also provide the factory acceptance test, packing dimensions and weights, spare parts list, warranty, commissioning support, training, production lead time and payment milestones. State the Incoterm, named location and quotation validity.
Compare the responses against one checklist. Record the approved specifications and acceptance conditions in your purchase order for a Chinese supplier.
For block making machines from China to Nigeria, the useful comparison is the cost and performance of a complete, agreed setup producing your specified blocks.
What else do Nigerian buyers ask? #
How much is a Chinese block making machine in Nigeria? #
Request a current quotation for a defined machine and accessory package, then add freight, assessed import charges, delivery and installation. Prices for different moulds, automation levels and included equipment are not directly comparable.
Can I order only the machine and buy a mixer locally? #
Yes, if the supplier confirms compatibility and your technical adviser checks the combined setup. Specify mixer discharge, feed arrangements and batch timing. Document who takes responsibility for integrating equipment from different suppliers.
Will a 9-inch mould produce as many blocks as a 6-inch mould? #
Do not assume equal output. Ask for the cavities per mould, cycle time and demonstrated production for each exact drawing. Daily capacity should be stated separately for each product.
Can the supplier give me a cement mixing ratio? #
A supplier can propose a starting process, but your actual materials and finished blocks need competent technical assessment and testing. Agree the applicable standard and validate the mix and curing process locally.
How many production pallets should I buy? #
Calculate them from the pallet system, production schedule, handling process and approved return time. Include pallets still occupied by earlier production and a maintenance allowance agreed with the equipment supplier.
Is a factory video enough to approve the order? #
A video can support verification. Approval should also use company checks, agreed specifications, a documented acceptance trial and inspection evidence linked to the equipment and moulds you are purchasing.
Which spare parts should be included? #
Ask for a model-specific list covering wear components, seals, sensors and other critical parts. Record part numbers, quantities, prices, availability and replacement instructions. Separate consumables from items covered by warranty.
