1688 Image Search: Find Suppliers from Nigeria

1688 image search helps Nigerian buyers look for products using a photograph when they do not know the Chinese product name. It can give you a starting list of suppliers to investigate, whether you are sourcing cleaning brushes, bags, fittings or household goods.

The important step comes after the search: checking whether the listing, supplier and quoted variant actually match what you want to import.

What can a product photo tell you on 1688? #

The publisher’s Nigerian App Store listing advertises photo search. Alibaba Group describes 1688 as a domestic wholesale marketplace, bringing together suppliers across different industries.

Use 1688 image search to build a shortlist. A result that looks familiar does not establish who manufactured the item, whether it is available, or whether its quality matches the original.

For example, two electric cleaning brushes may share the same casing but have different batteries, motors and attachments. Compare the specifications before comparing prices.

How do you search using a product photo? #

Start with the official 1688 app from your phone’s app store. Check the publisher before installing; the main Android listing is published under 1688.com.

The exact screen can change between versions. Use this workflow when the image-search option is available:

  1. Open the app and look for its photo or image-search control, which may use a camera symbol.
  2. Choose an existing product picture or take a photo if those options are offered.
  3. Select the intended object if the interface lets you adjust the search area.
  4. Open several results and check their selectable variants.
  5. Save the listing links alongside notes about the models you want.

For language help, use our 1688 English version guide. If the app requests a login, follow the 1688 account setup guide for Nigerian buyers.

Which pictures should you prepare? #

Give the search a clear view of one product. A crowded screenshot showing six different items makes it harder to identify your intended match.

Prepare a full-product picture and a closer view of useful details. For a cleaning brush, that could mean its handle, charging connection and attachment heads. For a replacement part, keep the model number and measurements available for manual comparison.

Crop away unrelated objects, captions and decorative borders while keeping details that distinguish the product. Try another angle if the first picture returns unsuitable items.

You can also search a descriptive product name. Use translation apps for China to help interpret unfamiliar terms, then ask the supplier to explain anything affecting your order.

How do you compare similar-looking listings? #

Open the product options before recording a price. Establish what the displayed amount buys: one piece, one attachment, a complete set or a particular quantity tier.

Ask each shortlisted supplier to confirm:

Our minimum order quantity guide explains how to discuss order sizes.

Compare quotations for the same specification. A cheaper brush with fewer heads or a smaller battery is a different offer.

For a Nigerian resale business, also calculate the landed cost from China to Nigeria. Supplier price, domestic delivery, buying fees, freight, clearance and local delivery all affect the final cost. Request the relevant charges before deciding your selling price.

How do you check the suppliers behind the pictures? #

Ask whether the seller manufactures the product, trades it, or sources it from another business. Request the registered company name, details of the proposed product and current photos or video of the exact variant.

Pictures and store claims need separate verification. Keep communications, quotations and listing links together, and watch for the warning signs in our Chinese supplier scams guide.

A sample lets you assess the proposed product before committing to a larger order. Read about getting samples from China to Nigeria, and agree which sample specification the bulk goods must match.

For larger orders, arrange quality inspection in China against written requirements. A satisfactory sample does not check the rest of the shipment.

What if the search option is missing or results are poor? #

If 1688 image search is unavailable in your current interface, check for an official app update and consult the app’s own help or support. Avoid assuming a tutorial for a different app version describes your screen.

If the feature opens but returns weak matches, try a clearer picture, another angle or descriptive keywords. Keep the original product details so that a visually similar substitute does not become an accidental specification change.

You can also send your reference photo to a sourcing agent and ask for candidate listing links. Have them explain the match and any differences. A screenshot of a low price alone is not enough to approve a purchase.

What should you confirm before paying and shipping? #

Turn the chosen listing into a written order. Record the agreed variant, quantity, accessories, packaging, delivery date and checks required before dispatch. Our purchase order guide helps you organise those details.

Check the supplier’s proforma invoice against the agreement. Confirm who is receiving payment and what happens if the goods differ from the order. Use the guide to paying a Chinese supplier from Nigeria to plan the payment route.

Confirm the receiving address in China, parcel identification and packed measurements with your shipping provider. Our 1688 shipping guide explains the next steps.

ChinaBridge can help you move from a reference photo to supplier checks, sampling and a shipping plan. Start with the product picture, required specification, intended quantity and delivery location in Nigeria so the enquiry is clear.
