PET Bottle Making Machines from China to Nigeria: Guide
Buying PET bottle making machines from China to Nigeria starts with the bottle you need, the preform that will make it and the utilities required to run the complete system.
A bottle-blowing machine quotation may exclude moulds, compressors, cooling equipment and other essential items. It also does not automatically include preform production, filling or cap making.
This guide focuses on new PET stretch-blow equipment using ready-made preforms. It explains how Nigerian packaging businesses and beverage producers can compare specifications, approve trials, verify suppliers and budget for a working setup.
1. Which bottle, preform and cap must work together? #
Start with an approved bottle drawing and a clear statement of use. A bottle for still water and one for a carbonated or hot-filled product require different performance assessments.
Specify:
- Intended contents and filling conditions.
- Nominal volume, usable fill and brimful capacity.
- Bottle height, diameter, shape and base design.
- Neck-finish drawing and compatible closure.
- Preform material, weight, dimensions and agreed quality.
- Required bottle tests and acceptance limits.
- Label, handling, packing and distribution requirements.
For example, a 500 ml (50 cl) water bottle and a 1.5-litre bottle need their own approved specifications. Do not select a preform weight solely from bottle volume or the cheapest available stock.
Sidel's packaging and preform design guidance treats the package as a design problem involving performance and supply-chain conditions. Have a competent packaging specialist review your proposed combination.
A preform is the moulded PET starting piece used to form the bottle. Confirm its neck finish against the actual cap and filling equipment. Changing a bottle mould does not automatically resolve a different neck or closure requirement.
Ask for identified samples of the preform, finished bottle and cap. Approve them together before committing to the machine and production stock.
Obtain batch traceability and material documentation covering the intended use of the preforms and closures. Keep these records linked to the approved samples and finished-bottle tests.
2. What should a complete bottle-making quotation include? #
Request a process flow showing how preforms enter, bottles are produced and finished output is collected or transferred.
The itemised scope may need:
- Preform feeding and heating equipment.
- Stretch-blow machine and complete bottle mould sets.
- Required compressed-air equipment and treatment.
- Air receivers, connections and control equipment.
- Cooling equipment and its water circuit.
- Bottle handling, inspection and collection arrangements.
- Electrical equipment, manuals and starter spares.
- Installation, commissioning and operator training.
Mark every component as included, optional or supplied locally. Name the company responsible for integrating the machine, air system, cooling and controls.
Separate preform production from bottle blowing. Husky's preform systems documentation describes injection-moulding systems for preforms. Producing preforms from resin is an additional manufacturing project with its own equipment and requirements.
For each bottle size, list the moulds, number of active cavities, change parts and required changeover work. Confirm drawing ownership, mould identification, replacement arrangements and what physically ships with the machine.
If you will fill and sell a beverage, itemise water or product treatment, filling, capping, labelling and final packing separately. The packaging machines guide helps structure that wider equipment scope.
3. What air, power and cooling systems will you need? #
Ask the machine supplier for separate blowing-air and control-air requirements, including pressure, flow, quality and the measurement basis used for consumption figures.
A compressor's pressure label alone does not establish that it can supply the required flow continuously. Have the machinery and air-system suppliers confirm a compatible package in writing.
Atlas Copco's PET blowing overview identifies blowing air and other factory-air applications separately. Air that contacts the bottle needs an appropriate quality specification and verification plan.
Have a competent specialist specify suitable treatment, receivers, piping, testing and commissioning. Confirm the required controls for oil, moisture, particles and other relevant contaminants for your intended product.
Obtain a full electrical schedule. Include heaters, compressors, dryers, pumps, chillers, conveyors and auxiliaries. Have a qualified Nigerian electrical professional assess the supply, starting requirements and any backup-power proposal.
Ask for cooling duties, water-quality requirements, connections and operating conditions. Do not assume a locally available water tank or chiller matches the machine's needs.
Request a site layout with service clearances, preform storage, hygienic bottle handling and access for installation. Compare semi-automatic and automatic proposals by their actual manual tasks, staffing, sustained output and protective systems.
4. How do you verify the supplier and approve bottle quality? #
Verify the legal company name, manufacturing address and bank beneficiary. Establish who manufactures the machine, moulds and auxiliary equipment.
Use the Chinese supplier verification checklist before paying a deposit. Confirm any claimed Nigerian service reference with the actual customer or support provider.
Request English manuals, spare-part numbers and warranty terms for the blower, compressor and cooling equipment. Agree replacement lead times, remote support, commissioning charges and technician travel before ordering.
Agree a written trial using the intended preform, mould and bottle specification. Record the machine configuration, cavity identification, material batch, utilities, staffing and trial duration.
Your acceptance plan should cover:
- Bottle dimensions, capacity and neck condition.
- Closure fit, sealing and agreed leak tests.
- Material distribution and relevant strength tests.
- Appearance, contamination and visible defects.
- Compatibility with handling, filling and packing equipment.
- Sustained output, stoppages and accepted bottles.
- Utility use and observed changeover work.
Have a qualified packaging specialist or laboratory define the tests needed for the contents, filling conditions and distribution method. A clear-looking bottle or a short water demonstration does not establish every performance or food-contact requirement.
Retain identified samples and records through the samples approval process. Test the bottle and closure together on the intended downstream equipment where relevant.
Arrange pre-shipment inspection in China against the complete order. Define whether it includes a witnessed production trial; visual inspection alone does not establish accepted output or bottle performance.
Agree remedies for missing equipment, failed tests and specification differences before payment stages become due.
5. How do you calculate accepted output and cost per bottle? #
For PET bottle making machines from China to Nigeria, compare output using the same bottle, preform, quality requirements and operating assumptions.
Cavity count, mechanical speed and accepted bottles per hour are different measures. Include heating, feeding, utilities, stoppages, rejects and downstream handling in the assessment.
Fictional output example: assume two active cavities produce two bottles per completed cycle, and a trial sustains ten completed cycles per minute.
That equals 1,200 bottles per hour before rejects. Six effective production hours give 7,200 bottles. If a fictional 2% fail final checks, accepted output is 7,056 bottles.
These figures illustrate arithmetic, not a machine rating or a production forecast. Confirm performance for every intended bottle and preform combination.
Build operating costs from measured records covering:
- Preforms and other consumed materials.
- Electricity for the complete system.
- Air-system and cooling costs.
- Labour, maintenance and service consumables.
- Inspection, tests and rejected production.
- Packing, storage and transport of empty bottles.
Fictional costing example: a run incurs ₦352,800 in specified preform, utility and processing costs and produces 7,056 accepted bottles. Those listed costs equal ₦50 per accepted bottle.
This is a partial calculation, not a Nigerian market price or profit forecast. Add rent, financing, depreciation, mould costs, administration, delivery and other applicable expenses without counting the same cost twice.
Distinguish empty-bottle production costs from a filled beverage's complete cost. Caps, contents, filling, labels and final distribution must be included where your business supplies the finished drink.
6. How do you plan shipping and Nigerian requirements? #
Obtain final packed dimensions, gross weights, crate quantities and a complete packing list. Include moulds, compressors, receivers, dryers, cooling units and other auxiliaries.
Fictional packing example:
- Blow-machine crate: 2.4 × 1.6 × 2.0 metres = 7.680 CBM.
- Compressor crate: 2.0 × 1.2 × 1.5 metres = 3.600 CBM.
- Mould crate: 0.8 × 0.6 × 0.6 metres = 0.288 CBM.
- Total for those three crates: 11.568 CBM.
This is a volume calculation for selected crates, not a complete factory shipment or freight quotation. Ask the forwarder how weight, dimensions, loading and handling affect the shipping method and charge.
Agree export protection, lifting information, loading evidence and carrier requirements for machinery fluids or other relevant components. Plan Nigerian delivery, unloading, installation access and commissioning.
Use the landed cost guide to combine purchase price, inspection, export costs, freight, insurance and assessed import charges. Add site works, utilities, training, spares and working capital.
Confirm the machinery import route before dispatch. Give SON and a licensed customs agent the equipment specifications, condition, intended use, importer details and complete shipment schedule.
SON's import permit guidance makes approval dependent on evaluation. Its National Single Window notice explains the relevant processing and certificate activation arrangements.
For empty food-contact bottles, confirm applicable product standards, testing, material documentation and manufacturing requirements with the relevant authorities for your business model.
If you also process and package drinking water, NAFDAC's packaged-water facility guidance covers facility inspection and product registration requirements. Buying a bottle blower does not establish approval of the water factory or finished drink.
7. What else do Nigerian bottle-machine buyers ask? #
How much is a PET bottle making machine in Nigeria? #
Request comparable, dated quotations for the same bottle, preform, moulds, output requirement and auxiliary package. Separate the machine price from compressors, cooling, freight, clearance, installation and working capital.
Does the machine make preforms from plastic resin? #
This guide covers stretch-blowing ready-made preforms. Preform injection moulding requires a separately specified system. Ask the supplier to identify the starting material and every process included.
Can one machine make 500 ml and 1.5-litre bottles? #
Some configurations support several formats. Obtain written confirmation for each bottle drawing, preform and mould set, including change parts, utilities, changeover work and demonstrated output.
Does a two-cavity machine produce twice as much? #
Not automatically. Compare completed cycles and accepted output under the same conditions. Heating, manual handling, air supply, cooling and other stages can limit sustained production.
Will it also make HDPE jerrycans? #
Do not assume that a PET preform-blowing machine supports another polymer and manufacturing process. Have the required material, container design, tooling and equipment quoted and demonstrated separately.
Are the filler and cap-making machine included? #
Only if the agreed scope lists them. Itemise bottle blowing, filling, capping, closure production and final packing so that equipment and responsibility are clear.
What should I send ChinaBridge for a quotation? #
Send the intended contents, bottle drawing or sample, volume, preform and neck specifications, cap details, required output, site location, available utilities, downstream equipment and budget.
Request an itemised machine-and-utility package, mould schedule, trial plan, spares, commissioning scope and final packing details.
Before paying for PET bottle making machines from China to Nigeria, put specifications, acceptance tests, remedies, payment stages and delivery terms in a written purchase order.
