Sachet Water Machines from China to Nigeria: Guide
Buying sachet water machines from China to Nigeria requires more than comparing the machine price. The filler must work with your film, treated-water supply, power arrangement and expected daily sales.
For a Nigerian pure-water business, the useful figure is accepted, correctly filled sachets packed for sale. A short demonstration or a headline speed cannot establish that output.
This guide covers new sachet form-fill-seal machines and the checks needed to turn a supplier quotation into a practical factory budget.
1. Are you buying a filling machine or a complete water factory? #
An automatic sachet machine typically forms a pouch from suitable roll film, fills it, seals it and cuts the finished sachet. Confirm whether counting and date coding are included.
Water Business USA's sachet-machine specification lists forming, filling, sealing, cutting and coding functions. That equipment description is different from a complete water-treatment and production facility.
Ask the supplier to divide the quotation into:
- Raw-water sourcing and pumping equipment.
- Treatment equipment selected for the actual water source.
- Treated-water storage and delivery to the filler.
- Sachet forming, filling, sealing and cutting.
- Film handling, coding and finished-product collection.
- Outer packing, storage and dispatch arrangements.
- Installation, training and starter spares.
Mark every item as included, optional or supplied locally. Name who will integrate the treatment system, tanks, piping, filler and electrical supply.
If you already operate a factory, identify the equipment you will retain and the additional capacity available. If you are starting from an empty building, budget for the full production system.
Use the water treatment equipment guide to prepare a separate treatment brief based on source-water analysis and qualified process design.
2. Which film rolls and sachet sizes will the machine accept? #
Match the film to the exact machine configuration before ordering either. A supplier's statement that it accepts polyethylene film does not settle roll dimensions, sealing behaviour or printed-film compatibility.
Request a written film schedule covering:
- Material structure and suitability for the intended food contact.
- Film thickness and agreed tolerances.
- Unfolded web width and finished sachet dimensions.
- Reel diameter, core size and maximum roll weight.
- Print repeat, registration marks and artwork position.
- Seal layout, cut position and coding area.
- Storage conditions, batch identification and supporting documentation.
Do not assume that a commonly advertised film width or thickness fits every water machine. Obtain a drawing from the machine supplier and have the film converter confirm it.
For printed rolls, establish whether the machine uses a registration sensor to keep the artwork and cutting position aligned. Trial the actual printed film, including its mark position and contrast.
A 500 ml sachet contains the same nominal volume as 50 cl. Specify the intended fill, permitted variation, finished dimensions and agreed test method rather than relying on a product photograph.
If buying film in Nigeria, send a representative roll to the machine supplier for the agreed trial. Keep a matching sample and specification through the samples approval process.
Approve the required label information before paying for a large printed-film batch. Keep the film's food-contact and traceability records with your production documents.
3. How do you calculate daily output and bags for sale? #
When comparing sachet water machines from China to Nigeria, define whether a quoted “bag” means one sachet or an outer bag containing several sachets.
Write the quotation in sachets per minute or hour, with the fill volume and trial conditions stated. Separately define the number of sachets in each outer bag.
Setpack's vertical form-fill-seal specifications make final output dependent on product and pouch format. Treat catalogue speed as a starting point for a witnessed trial.
Fictional production example: assume a machine sustains 30 sachets per minute during six effective production hours.
- Gross output: 30 × 60 × 6 = 10,800 sachets.
- Fictional 2% rejects: 216 sachets.
- Accepted output: 10,584 sachets.
- At an assumed 20 sachets per outer bag: 529 complete bags, with four sachets remaining.
The outer-bag count is an assumption for this example, not a universal packing rule. These figures are arithmetic, not a machine rating, sales forecast or guaranteed daily output.
At a nominal 500 ml each, the accepted sachets contain 5,292 litres. Water used for rejected sachets, cleaning and other process needs is additional.
Allow time for cleaning, film changes, setup, stoppages and packing. Confirm that water treatment, collection, outer packing, storage and delivery can support the proposed production rate.
Fictional operating-cost example: specified film, utility and direct-labour costs total ₦317,520 for those 10,584 accepted sachets. Those listed costs equal ₦30 per accepted sachet.
This partial example is not a Nigerian market price or profit forecast. Add outer bags, testing, maintenance, rent, financing, depreciation, delivery and other applicable expenses without counting any cost twice.
4. How should you verify the supplier and test the machine? #
Confirm the supplier's legal company name, address and bank beneficiary. Establish who builds the filler and who supplies its controls, coding system and other components.
Use the Chinese supplier verification checklist before paying. Check any claimed Nigerian installation or service reference with the actual customer or support provider.
Agree a trial using your approved film, fill volume, sachet dimensions and coding requirements. Record the machine identification, film batch, utilities, staffing, run duration and stoppages.
The acceptance plan should check:
- Filled quantity using the agreed measurement method.
- Seal integrity and leaks under defined test conditions.
- Sachet dimensions and clean separation at the cut.
- Print alignment and readable production codes.
- Sustained accepted output and rejection reasons.
- Film tracking, roll changes and observed waste.
- Access for cleaning and operation of protective systems.
- All ordered accessories, documents and spare parts.
Have a qualified packaging or quality specialist define acceptance limits and the transport or handling tests relevant to your distribution method. A few intact sachets on a showroom table do not establish performance throughout delivery.
Separate packaging checks from water-quality verification. Clear appearance, a leak-free seal or the presence of a UV device does not prove the finished water meets every applicable requirement.
Arrange pre-shipment inspection in China against the complete order. Specify whether a witnessed production trial is included, and agree remedies for failed checks before payment stages become due.
5. What site services, cleaning access and spares will you need? #
Request the filler inlet requirements, including water quality, flow, pressure and connection details. Have the treatment-system designer confirm compatibility with the proposed filling equipment.
WHO's drinking-water quality framework addresses risks from source to consumer. Have a qualified water specialist assess the complete process, monitoring and verification arrangements.
Obtain a full electrical schedule covering the filler, heaters, pumps, treatment equipment, coding devices and any auxiliaries. Have a qualified Nigerian electrical professional assess the site supply and backup-power proposal.
Ask whether the exact model needs compressed air. If so, obtain its pressure, flow and quality requirements and have the air package specified accordingly.
Review the layout, drainage, equipment access and cleaning arrangements before delivery. Codex's packaged-water hygiene guidance addresses protection against contamination during filling and sealing.
Request English manuals, electrical drawings, parts identification and training. Itemise model-specific heaters, sealing components, temperature sensors, cutting parts, belts and other recommended consumables.
Confirm which parts are available in Nigeria and verify that claim. Agree replacement lead times, warranty exclusions, remote support, commissioning charges and technician travel costs in writing.
6. What should your shipping and factory budget include? #
Compare dated quotations on the same scope and delivery terms. Separate the filler price from treatment, tanks, film, power works, inspection, freight, import charges, installation and working capital.
Obtain final packed dimensions, gross weights and a complete packing list before booking cargo.
Fictional packing example:
- Machine crate: 1.2 × 1.1 × 2.1 metres = 2.772 CBM.
- Spares carton: 0.6 × 0.4 × 0.5 metres = 0.120 CBM.
- Total for these two packages: 2.892 CBM.
This excludes treatment equipment, tanks, film and other cargo. It is a volume calculation, not a freight quotation. Ask the forwarder how weight, dimensions and handling affect the charge.
Use the landed cost guide to build the import budget. Add Nigerian unloading, installation access, site works, commissioning, test materials and initial operating cash.
Confirm the machinery import route before dispatch. Give SON and a licensed customs agent the specifications, intended use, importer details and complete shipment schedule.
SON's import permit guidance makes approval subject to evaluation. Its National Single Window notice explains the relevant processing and certificate activation arrangements.
Plan NAFDAC requirements before committing to the factory. Its packaged-water facility guideline, effective 13 October 2025, covers inspection and product-registration requirements. It specifies fully automated form-fill-seal equipment designed for safe use, cleaning and reduced contact with materials.
Review the application documents, facility layout, personnel, raw- and treated-water analysis, quality controls and operating procedures with NAFDAC. Do not treat a machine purchase or supplier's certificate as approval to produce and sell packaged water.
Confirm current application charges directly, and check applicable state-level premises, packaging, environmental and waste-management requirements for your location.
7. What else do Nigerian sachet-water machine buyers ask? #
How much is a pure water machine from China? #
Request dated quotations for the same fill volume, film, demonstrated output, coding system, accessories and support. Compare the complete installed cost in Nigeria alongside the machine price.
Does the sachet machine purify borehole water? #
The filler packages water. Specify treatment separately from source-water analysis and a qualified design. Identify any treatment equipment included in the supplier's package.
How many bags can one machine produce daily? #
Calculate from demonstrated accepted sachets, effective production hours and your defined sachets per outer bag. Include rejects, packing limits and stoppages rather than multiplying the highest advertised speed by a full day.
Can I use film manufactured in Nigeria? #
Have the machine supplier and local film converter agree the material, dimensions, printing and sealing specification. Run a representative roll before approving bulk film and the machine configuration.
Must every sachet machine use a compressor? #
Check the utility schedule for the exact model. If compressed air is required, obtain a compatible package specification. Do not buy an auxiliary compressor solely because another factory uses one.
Does an imported machine come with NAFDAC approval? #
A supplier's equipment documents do not replace the Nigerian factory-inspection and product-registration process. Confirm your facility and product requirements with NAFDAC before production for sale.
What should I send ChinaBridge for a quotation? #
