Multiple entry China visa for Nigerians: cost and who gets one

A multiple entry China visa comes in six month and one year versions, at 21,000 and 31,500 naira to 31 December 2026. Who gets one, and what it does not mean.

Important: ChinaBridge is a private Nigerian company, not the Chinese Embassy, Visa Application Service Centre, or any government agency. We simply help you prepare and review your application. You submit it yourself and pay official fees directly to the Centre. No agent can approve or guarantee a visa.

If you travel to China regularly for business, applying for a new visa before every trip quickly becomes expensive.

That is why repeat Nigerian buyers eventually start asking about:

six-month multiple entry

or:

one-year multiple entry.

China does issue both to Nigerian passport holders.

The fees are officially published.

What China does not publish is a checklist saying exactly who qualifies for one.

So this page separates:

what is official

from:

what is simply good application practice.

Does China issue multiple-entry visas to Nigerians? #

Yes.

The Chinese Embassy's current fee schedule specifically lists:

Multiple entries — six-month validity

and:

Multiple entries — one-year validity

for Nigerian citizens.

The current Nigeria visa guidelines also state that the consular officer has the final decision on:

So multiple entry exists.

But asking for it does not guarantee that the final visa will have the validity or entries you requested.

How much does a multiple-entry China visa cost? #

The reduced Nigerian visa-fee schedule runs until:

31 December 2026.

Current Embassy visa fees are:

Single entry: ₦10,500

Double entry: ₦15,750

Six-month multiple entry: ₦21,000

One-year multiple entry: ₦31,500.

Those are the consular visa fees.

They do not include the Visa Application Centre service charge.

The service fee changes the real calculation #

The current Lagos Visa Application Centre regular service fee is:

₦74,500 including taxes.

So a normal regular application works out roughly like this before optional extras:

Six-month multiple entry

₦21,000 visa fee

One-year multiple entry

₦31,500 visa fee

Now compare that with applying twice for separate single-entry visas.

Each regular single-entry application is approximately:

₦10,500

Two applications:

₦170,000

before transport, hotel, courier or other costs.

That is why a multiple-entry visa can save a regular buyer much more than the visa fee alone suggests.

Who qualifies for a multiple-entry visa? #

There is no published Nigerian checklist.

We checked the current Embassy, Consulate and Visa Application Centre material.

They publish the fees.

They publish the M-visa documents.

They do not say:

“Two previous China trips automatically qualify you.”

or:

“First-time applicants cannot receive multiple entry.”

or:

“You must have imported a certain amount.”

The official rule is simply that the consular officer decides the validity, stay duration and number of entries based on the applicant's circumstances.

That is the honest answer.

Can a first-time traveller apply for multiple entry? #

Nothing in the current published Nigerian guidelines says a first-time traveller is prohibited from requesting it.

But there is also no official promise that a first-time applicant will receive it.

One thing the Nigerian rules do show is that China distinguishes between first-time and repeat travellers.

For an M visa, non-first-time visitors are exempt from providing the Invitation Letter (TE) or Verification Letter of Invitation that first-time visitors normally need.

That proves previous China travel changes part of the document requirement.

It does not prove a formal multiple-entry qualification rule.

Do not turn one into the other.

What should you do if you genuinely need several trips? #

Explain why.

For example:

October 2026 — Canton Fair and supplier meetings

January 2027 — factory inspection

April 2027 — repeat sourcing trip

Now there is a commercial reason for asking for multiple entry.

That is stronger than simply writing:

“I want one year because it is convenient.”

Your itinerary and invitation should reflect the genuine business pattern.

What does “six-month multiple entry” actually mean? #

It does not mean you may stay in China for six months.

A Chinese visa has three separate pieces of information.

1. Validity #

This is the period during which you can use the visa to enter China.

The Visa Application Centre explains that a visa is generally effective from its issue date until the final “Enter Before” date.

Once that date passes, the visa is no longer usable even if you still have unused entries.

2. Number of entries #

This tells you how many times you may enter during the visa's validity.

It can be:

single

double

or:

multiple.

Once all permitted entries are used, the visa is finished even if the validity date has not arrived.

3. Duration of each stay #

This is the maximum number of days you can remain in China on each visit.

That number appears separately on the visa sticker.

A one-year multiple-entry visa might still give you a much shorter stay on each individual visit.

So:

one-year validity ≠ permission to live in China for one year.

Example #

Suppose your visa says:

Enter Before: 30 November 2027

Entries: M

Duration of Each Stay: 30 days

That means you may make multiple qualifying entries before the validity expires.

But each individual visit cannot exceed the stated:

30 days.

You do not get to remain continuously until November 2027.

When does the stay count start? #

The official Visa Application Centre guidance says the duration of stay is counted:

from the day following your entry into China.

For example:

You enter China:

10 April

Your visa allows:

30 days per stay.

Day 1 is:

11 April

Day 30 is:

10 May.

You should leave by the permitted deadline.

Our China visa validity and duration guide explains this in detail.

How many days per visit will a Nigerian get? #

There is no published Nigeria-specific rule saying:

every M visa gets 30 days

or:

every one-year visa gets 60 days.

The Nigerian Consulate says the consular officer determines:

validity + duration of stay + number of entries

according to the applicant's circumstances.

So do not build your travel plan around a stay period somebody promised you before the visa is issued.

When your passport returns, check the sticker.

Check the visa before booking the next trip #

Look for three things:

ENTER BEFORE

When must you enter before the visa expires?

ENTRIES

Single?

Double?

Multiple?

DURATION OF EACH STAY

How long can you remain each time?

Do not assume the centre gave you exactly what you requested.

The visa sticker is what controls.

What can strengthen a genuine multiple-entry request? #

There is no official scoring system.

But if you are asking for several entries, your application should make the need believable.

Previous compliant China travel #

If you have travelled before, include previous visa details when required.

A history of entering and leaving properly gives the application real travel history.

A continuing supplier relationship #

An invitation from a factory or company you actually trade with is easier to understand than one from a business you discovered yesterday.

Use our China visa invitation letter guide.

A reason for repeated travel #

For example:

Explain the real pattern.

Consistent company documents #

The same business should make sense across:

CAC documents

bank statement

company introduction

invitation

and:

application.

Six months of genuine financial history #

Current M-visa rules require:

six months of bank statements from the applicant or the company.

Use our China visa bank statement guide.

Do not manufacture extra trips just to justify multiple entry #

Do not create:

fake factory appointments

fake invitations

or:

invented itineraries

because you want a one-year visa.

If you only have one real trip planned, submit the real trip.

The consular officer has discretion over the number of entries regardless of what you request.

A clean genuine application is more important than trying to force a particular sticker.

Multiple entry does not guarantee admission every time #

A valid visa lets you present yourself for entry.

The final border decision still belongs to China's immigration authorities.

The official Visa Application Centre guidance states that even a person holding a valid visa may still be refused entry under Chinese law in individual circumstances.

For an ordinary compliant business traveller, that is not something to panic about.

It is simply the legal distinction between:

having a visa

and:

being admitted at the border.

Do not overstay because you have multiple entry #

Multiple entry gives you more opportunities to enter.

It does not relax the stay limit.

China's Exit and Entry Administration Law says foreigners staying illegally can receive a warning and, in serious circumstances:

RMB 500 per day

up to:

RMB 10,000

or detention of:

5–15 days.

So if your visa says:

30 days

leave within 30 days.

Do not think:

“I have a one-year visa, so two extra weeks will not matter.”

It can matter a lot.

Does every overstay cause a five-year ban? #

No.

That claim is too broad.

China's law says a person who is repatriated may be barred from entering China for:

one to five years from the date of repatriation.

A person who is formally deported can face a:

10-year entry ban.

That is different from saying:

“Every one-day overstay means five years banned.”

But even a minor overstay is unnecessary risk for a trader who depends on returning to China.

Know your departure date.

Can you extend a stay while in China? #

China's law allows a visa holder who needs a stay extension to apply to the local exit-entry authority at least seven days before the permitted stay expires.

Approval is not automatic.

The authority decides whether the reason is sufficient.

So:

“I am still negotiating with the factory”

is not a reason to simply remain after expiry.

If you genuinely need more time, use the formal process before your stay runs out.

Six-month or one-year: which should you request? #

Ask for the one that matches your actual travel.

Six-month multiple entry #

Makes sense when you expect several trips within the next half year.

For example:

October Canton Fair

then:

January supplier visit.

One-year multiple entry #

Makes more sense when you have an established pattern of repeated China travel throughout the year.

For example:

Canton Fair spring + autumn

plus:

factory inspections or sourcing trips between them.

But remember:

you can request; the consular officer decides.

Is one-year automatically better? #

Not if you do not need it.

The visa is a travel tool.

Not a status symbol.

If you only expect two trips within five months, a six-month multiple may fit perfectly.

If your trade requires China every quarter, the one-year option is more useful.

Match the request to the business.

Multiple entry still uses the normal M-visa documents #

There is no separate published Nigerian document list saying:

“Multiple-entry applicants must bring these seven extra documents.”

The normal M-visa requirements still apply.

That includes:

The difference is what you are requesting the officer to issue.

Your multiple-entry checklist #

Before applying:

PURPOSE

✓ Genuine repeated business travel?

HISTORY

✓ Previous China visas/trips available if applicable?

INVITATION

✓ Real supplier or business relationship?

ITINERARY

✓ Explains why more than one trip is needed?

BUSINESS

✓ Company documents consistent?

BANK

✓ Six months of genuine statements?

REQUEST

✓ Six-month or one-year validity actually matches the business?

Then submit the application and let the consular decision stand on the file.

The short answer #

China currently charges Nigerian citizens:

₦21,000 for a six-month multiple-entry visa

and:

₦31,500 for a one-year multiple-entry visa

under the reduced fee schedule running through 31 December 2026.

The Visa Application Centre's regular service fee is separate and currently ₦74,500 per application in Lagos.

China does not publish a Nigerian qualification checklist for multiple entry.

The consular officer decides:

whether the visa is issued

how long it is valid

how long each stay may last

and:

how many entries you receive.

So if you genuinely travel repeatedly:

show the pattern.

Use a real invitation.

Use consistent company documents.

Show the six-month financial record.

Explain why the business requires several trips.

And when the visa comes back, read the sticker carefully.

A one-year multiple-entry visa gives you repeated entries during its validity.

It does not give you one year of continuous residence in China.

For the full process, use how to apply for China visa in Nigeria.

Then check China visa bank statement requirements.

And before travelling, read China visa validity and duration of stay.
