Chinese New Year 2027: Nigeria Import Planning
Plan for Chinese New Year 2027 as a Nigerian importer. Check factory shutdowns, order deadlines, warehouse cut-offs and stock needs before paying suppliers.

Chinese New Year 2027: Nigeria Import Planning
Chinese New Year 2027 falls on 6 February. Nigerian importers should confirm production, inspection and shipping dates well before then, because the festival date alone cannot tell you when a particular supplier will stop work.
This matters whether you buy phone accessories on 1688, clothing on Alibaba or machinery directly from a factory.
A seller accepting payment does not establish that your goods can leave China before its holiday break. Build your plan around written dates and a realistic stock requirement.
This guide was checked on 26 October 2026. The calculations below are fictional planning examples, not supplier commitments or ChinaBridge shipping deadlines.
When is Chinese New Year 2027, and when do factories close? #
Chinese New Year falls on Saturday, 6 February 2027, as confirmed by the published government calendar.
Keep three schedules separate: the official public holiday arrangement, your supplier's operating dates and your logistics provider's acceptance deadlines.
SEKO Logistics' 2027 planning guide describes disruption extending beyond the festival itself. Its planning estimates are not a closure notice for your particular factory.
Ask when your product can actually be manufactured, checked and collected. A sales representative replying on WeChat does not establish that the production team is available.
If you met suppliers at the October fair, use our Canton Fair follow-up guide to turn discussions into confirmed specifications and an order schedule.
Which dates should you confirm before paying a supplier? #
Ask for dates against your exact product, quantity, packaging and order reference.
Your checklist should include:
- Last date for accepting a new production order.
- Date by which specifications, samples and payment requirements must be satisfied.
- Planned production completion date.
- Available inspection date and time for corrections.
- Last factory collection or dispatch date.
- Factory reopening date and expected production availability.
Ask the forwarder separately about warehouse receiving, consolidation, booking and cargo acceptance deadlines.
Clarify whether each date means goods ready at the factory, received at a warehouse or handed over for the booked departure. Those are different milestones.
You can adapt this supplier message:
Hello. For [product, quantity and order reference], please confirm your last pre-holiday production and dispatch dates, the requirements to secure this schedule, and when you expect production to resume.
Please confirm whether the proposed completion date leaves time for inspection, corrections and delivery to [warehouse]. If this order cannot meet the agreed schedule, please tell us before payment.
Record the accepted dates and change procedure in your purchase order. Keep subsequent revisions with the same order record.
How can Nigerian buyers calculate an order deadline? #
Work backwards from the milestone you need to meet. For stock required in Nigeria, include international transport, clearance and onward delivery before deciding when cargo must leave China.
Our shipping-timeline guide explains why a voyage or flight duration is only part of the journey.
For a simple fictional warehouse-handover exercise, assume:
- Warehouse acceptance target: 15 January 2027.
- Production: 30 calendar days.
- Inspection and possible corrections: 7 calendar days.
- Delivery within China: 3 calendar days.
- Contingency allowance: 10 calendar days.
The total allowance is 50 calendar days. Counting back from 15 January gives 26 November 2026.
This example assumes those activities run consecutively and the production clock can start on that date. Your actual order may require more time for materials, tooling or sample approval.
Confirm whether the supplier quotes working days or calendar days. Replace every allowance with an agreed figure, accounting for closed days and any known holiday interruption.
The example does not establish 15 January as a universal shipping cut-off. It demonstrates how a confirmed deadline should influence the earlier ordering decision.
What should 1688 and Alibaba buyers check with the warehouse? #
For several purchases, build one list showing each supplier, expected dispatch date, carton count and warehouse arrival date.
“Ready stock” needs confirmation too. Ask whether the exact colour, model and quantity are physically available for dispatch, rather than assuming every option shown online is on the shelf.
Then ask the warehouse:
- What is the final receiving date for my intended dispatch?
- Must every parcel arrive before consolidation can start?
- How much time is needed for checking, repacking and labelling?
- What happens if one supplier delivers late?
- Which charges apply if goods remain during the break?
- When will receiving and dispatch resume?
Our order-consolidation guide explains how to coordinate goods from several suppliers.
Agree whether a late item should hold the whole batch or travel separately, and obtain the revised costs before authorising a split.
Warehouse receipt is one milestone. Ask for confirmation of the booked departure and actual dispatch rather than promising customers a delivery date from the warehouse scan alone.
How much stock should you buy before the shutdown? #
Start with your own sales records and expected replenishment gap. A holiday warning is not enough reason to buy a large quantity of an untested product.
Consider this fictional phone-accessory shop:
- Average sales of the specific item: 20 units a week.
- Planning period without usable replenishment: 8 weeks.
- Expected demand: 160 units.
- Chosen contingency stock: 20 units.
- Usable stock already held: 50 units.
- Confirmed incoming stock expected within the required period: 30 units.
The illustrative additional requirement is 160 + 20 - 50 - 30 = 100 units.
The eight-week period and 20-unit contingency are assumptions, not a forecast for every Nigerian importer. Adjust them for your supplier, route, sales pattern and the risk that incoming stock arrives late.
Count saleable stock accurately. Damaged items, the wrong phone model or unpopular clothing sizes may not cover the demand you are planning for.
For a new product, gather sales evidence before making a large holiday purchase. Our unsold-stock guide explains the cost of tying money up in goods that do not move.
What if your order will miss the last shipment? #
Find out which stage is late before deciding what to change.
If production is unfinished, ask for the revised completion and inspection dates. If goods are ready, confirm whether collection, warehouse processing and a suitable departure remain available.
Discuss a smaller first batch or another transport option only after checking the complete cost, cargo acceptance and likely timing.
Do not remove essential checks just to reach a departure. Agree a realistic quality-inspection scope and a plan for dealing with problems found.
Reopening also needs clarification. DHL Nigeria's account of the 2026 restart explains why an open factory may still have limited staffing, materials or production capacity. Its 2026 dates should not be reused as a 2027 schedule.
Update your customers when the revised plan changes their expected delivery.
For ChinaBridge Global assistance, send the product links, quantities, supplier's proposed dates, shipping method and Nigerian destination. Agree the coordination or checking services and fees before committing to the order.
What else do Nigerian importers ask about holiday shipping? #
When is Chinese New Year 2027? #
Saturday, 6 February 2027. Confirm the applicable public holiday notice and each business's operating schedule separately before relying on a production or dispatch date.
Do all Chinese factories close for the same period? #
Obtain the schedule for your supplier and product. The public holiday calendar does not establish the full shutdown and restart period of every factory.
Can I still place an order during the holiday? #
Check what the seller is agreeing to provide and when. An online order or payment confirmation does not establish that production, collection or dispatch will happen immediately.
Does air freight solve every holiday delay? #
Air transport cannot recover time while goods remain unfinished or unavailable for collection. Confirm the cargo's readiness, route acceptance, available booking and total cost.
Is mid-January always the last shipping date? #
Use your provider's written deadline for the particular service and shipment. Generic dates on a blog cannot establish when your warehouse or carrier will accept cargo.
Should I pay the full balance to secure a place? #
Follow the agreed payment terms and confirm what the payment secures. A promise about priority does not replace evidence of production progress, agreed checks or a confirmed shipment arrangement.
Does reopening mean my order will ship that day? #
Ask when your order enters production, when it will be ready for inspection and when collection is available. The first day back and the dispatch date may differ.
Start here, it takes about two minutes
Tell us what you need. A person from the ChinaBridge desk will reply on WhatsApp, usually the same working day.
Buying, selling, shipping, a visa or the paperwork, it is the same desk. Nothing is payable to open a file, and nothing is due until you have agreed a plan in writing.
