Canton Fair buyer registration: how to get your badge
Canton Fair buyer registration is free. Learn how to pre-register, apply for your buyer badge, collect it in Guangzhou and avoid first-day queues.

Do your Canton Fair buyer registration before you leave Nigeria.
It costs nothing through the official system, and doing it early means you can apply for your buyer badge, generate the invitation needed for your visa process and avoid wasting your first morning in Guangzhou filling forms.
The badge matters because you cannot simply walk into Canton Fair with your passport.
Overseas buyers need a valid Canton Fair Buyer Badge to enter the exhibition complex, and the same badge can be used for multiple sessions.
Here is the process from Nigeria to the gate.
Is Canton Fair buyer registration free? #
Yes.
Overseas buyers can register through the official Canton Fair Buyer Service System or the Canton Fair app without paying a registration fee.
The Fair's 2026 attendance guide says overseas buyers who pre-register can collect their Buyer Badge free of charge at the Fair's alternative registration offices or buyer-registration offices at the Canton Fair Complex.
So if somebody in Nigeria charges you for “Canton Fair registration”, understand what you are paying for.
You may be paying them to complete the process for you.
You are not paying an official Canton Fair registration fee.
That distinction matters.
What do you need before registering? #
Have the basic information ready before you start.
You will need:
- a working email address;
- your international passport;
- your passport details;
- a clear recent photograph;
- your company or business information;
- your job title;
- contact information;
- and the product categories you are interested in.
The official Buyer Service System accepts foreign passports for overseas-buyer registration and asks first-time buyers to complete their personal and company information when applying for the Buyer Badge.
Use an email address you actually check.
The current registration page specifically warns users not to use Yahoo addresses because relevant Canton Fair emails may not arrive.
Also enter your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
Do not write one version of your name for Canton Fair, another on your flight booking and another on your visa application if you can avoid it.
How do you register for Canton Fair from Nigeria? #
Use the official Canton Fair website and enter the Buyer Service System.
You can also use the official Canton Fair app.
For a first-time overseas buyer, the basic sequence is:
- Create or log into your Buyer Service System account.
- Complete your company information.
- Complete your personal information.
- Enter your passport information.
- Upload the required photograph and identification details.
- Open Canton Fair Badges.
- Choose Overseas Buyer Badge.
- Submit the badge application.
- Select the phase or phases you intend to attend.
The 2026 Fair guide says overseas-buyer pre-registration is available year-round, so there is no reason to wait until the week of your flight.
Register once and keep the account.
Do not keep creating new accounts every time you attend the Fair.
Can you apply for the invitation at the same time? #
Yes.
For a new overseas buyer, the current Buyer Service System lets you apply for the Buyer Badge and choose to generate the Canton Fair invitation at the same time.
The invitation can then be viewed, downloaded or printed from your account.
That document is useful for the China visa process.
Our Canton Fair invitation letter guide explains that part separately.
Do not confuse the two documents:
Buyer Badge — gets you into Canton Fair.
Canton Fair Invitation — supports your trip and visa application.
You normally need both for different reasons.
Do you get the physical badge in Nigeria? #
No.
You apply before travelling, but the physical Buyer Badge is collected in China or through an approved Canton Fair registration location.
For most Nigerian buyers flying directly into Guangzhou, the easiest strategy is to complete pre-registration before departure and collect the badge after arrival.
The Fair specifically encourages overseas buyers to collect their badges before arriving at the Canton Fair Complex because this saves time at the venue.
Where can you collect the Canton Fair badge? #
The 2026 attendance guide lists several alternative registration locations for pre-registered overseas buyers:
- Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
- Guangzhou South Railway Station
- Pazhou Ferry Terminal
- designated Canton Fair hotels in Guangzhou
- Canton Fair Hong Kong Representative Office
- and buyer-registration offices at the Canton Fair Complex itself.
That gives you several options.
If you land at Baiyun Airport and the badge counter is operating when you arrive, collecting it before leaving the airport can save time.
If you miss the airport service, your hotel may have a buyer-registration counter.
And if neither works, you can still process it at the Fair Complex.
Our Canton Fair hotels guide explains why designated hotels can be convenient during Fair week.
Should you rely on old airport counter hours? #
No.
Do not build your arrival plan around a blog saying:
Terminal 1 A7, 8 a.m. to midnight.
Locations and operating hours can change between sessions.
The official 2026 attendance guide confirms Baiyun Airport as an alternative badge location, but you should check the 140th Canton Fair's current badge notice before your flight for the exact terminal, counter and opening hours.
That is safer than using last year's timetable.
What do you need when collecting the badge? #
The most important thing is the original valid identification document you registered with.
For a Nigerian buyer, that will normally be your international passport.
The current 2026 attendance guide says alternative registration offices provide Buyer Badge service to overseas buyers who present original and valid identification, including foreign passports.
Keep your registration information accessible on your phone as well.
It is also sensible to carry business cards because you will need them throughout the Fair, but I would not describe a business card as a universal 140th-session badge requirement unless the Fair's current collection notice specifically asks for it.
Your passport is the document you cannot forget.
Is the badge valid for only one Canton Fair? #
No.
The overseas Buyer Badge is designed for use across multiple Canton Fair sessions.
Keep it.
The Fair has repeatedly advised returning overseas buyers to bring their existing badge rather than applying for a completely new one each session.
The current badge is a QR-code Buyer Badge.
When the new QR-code badge system was introduced, returning buyers with older badges were allowed to obtain the new version free, after which the previous badge became invalid.
So if you have attended before, check the badge you already have before travelling.
What if you lose your badge? #
Do not assume an old online article's replacement fee still applies.
Historically, different Canton Fair channels have published different rules around lost and replacement badges.
More recent Canton Fair Hong Kong guidance, for example, says a reissued overseas Buyer Badge there can be processed without a fee, while older guides referred to service charges for certain reapplications.
The practical rule is:
Do not lose it.
If you do, use the current Buyer Service System or ask an official registration counter what applies to your badge and location.
Do not pay somebody RMB 200 simply because an old blog says that is the rule.
Which entrance should you use? #
The Canton Fair Complex is divided into Areas A, B, C and D.
Official buyer-registration offices are available at the Complex, and the current 2026 attendance guide maps registration offices in Areas B, C and D.
But once you already have the badge, your real concern is finding the section containing your products.
Do that before arriving.
The Fair has 54 exhibition sections across 13 broad categories for the 140th session, spread across three phases.
Our Canton Fair phases guide shows which phase carries your goods.
Turning up with a valid badge during the wrong phase still wastes the trip.
What happens at the entrance? #
Your Buyer Badge is your access credential.
Keep it with you rather than leaving it at the hotel or packing it deep inside a suitcase.
The Fair's current system follows the principle that the badge belongs to the registered person.
Do not lend your badge to another traveller.
Do not buy somebody else's badge.
And do not let an agent tell you that you can simply enter with another person's card.
The identification and badge system exists specifically to link the buyer to their registered identity.
Should you bring a large suitcase into Canton Fair? #
Avoid it.
You will be walking through one of the world's largest trade exhibitions.
Carry only what you need:
- passport;
- Buyer Badge;
- phone;
- power bank;
- notebook or notes app;
- business cards;
- water;
- and a light bag.
Leave normal luggage at the hotel.
Your job inside the Fair is to talk to suppliers, photograph products, record quotations and move between booths.
Dragging your travel luggage around the halls makes all of that harder.
Read our first-time Canton Fair guide before your first day.
Do returning buyers need to register again? #
You should still log into your account and complete the attendance process for the current session.
But if your Buyer Badge remains valid, you normally do not need to start again as though you are a completely new buyer.
The official system distinguishes between new buyers and regular buyers who have attended onsite before.
Returning buyers can log in with their existing account, choose the phases they plan to attend and apply for the current invitation where necessary.
That is much easier than creating a second identity in the system.
What should you do after registration? #
Once your Canton Fair buyer registration is complete, move immediately to the rest of the trip.
Confirm your invitation.
Prepare the visa file.
Book the correct dates.
Check which phase contains your products.
Choose your hotel.
Set up WeChat and internet access.
And search the Fair's exhibitor database before you arrive.
The 140th Canton Fair runs:
- Phase 1: 15–19 October 2026
- Phase 2: 23–27 October 2026
- Phase 3: 31 October–4 November 2026.
Your badge can get you through the gate.
It cannot fix arriving during the wrong five days.
