1688 Seller Badges: Guide for Nigerian Buyers

1688 seller badges can help you identify information worth checking before an order. Open the current supplier profile, read what the label represents and connect the evidence to the exact product you want.

A verified business identity, a factory assessment and an acceptable production batch answer different questions. Keep those checks separate when deciding whom to shortlist.

What do 1688 seller badges actually tell you? #

Start by identifying the service or assessment behind the label. Some relate to commercial membership and business-identity checks. Others point towards a deeper assessment or particular seller commitments.

For example, 1688's 2026 Chengxintong agreement includes checks on the registered business and authorised contact. It also explains that verification reflects the position when checked.

Ask whether the current profile matches the seller sending your quotation. Save the shop link and company name rather than relying on a screenshot forwarded through another chat.

If you are new to ordering, use the 1688 buying guide for Nigerians alongside these supplier checks. The badge is one part of the buying decision.

Which Chinese labels should Nigerian buyers recognise? #

You may encounter these names on profiles, supplier material or older buying guides:

These English descriptions are reading aids. Programme names, conditions and presentation can change. Keep the original Chinese wording when asking the seller or platform support to explain a label.

Do not treat icon colour or a name translated by an app as a complete statement of what was checked.

Does deep verification prove the seller is a factory? #

Read the assessment type. The published deep-verification agreement distinguishes 验厂, a factory assessment, from 验商, a business assessment for a non-manufacturing business.

It also recognises arrangements involving associated factories or factory resources. Establish which company operates the relevant production site and how it relates to the shop you are buying from.

Ask a direct question: which facility will make this particular item, and which operations happen there?

Use the factory-versus-trading-company guide to decide what arrangement suits your order. A trading company can be useful when its role, responsibilities and supply arrangements are clear.

What should you read in the assessment report? #

Request the relevant report or access it through the supplier's current profile where available. Start with these checks:

Then write down the questions the document leaves unanswered. For example, does the quoted product use the equipment described? Has the production address changed? Is a statement supported by the assessment or only by the seller's marketing?

Where verification with an assessor is needed, find its official contact route independently. A seller-supplied contact alone does not authenticate the report.

Combine the findings with a Chinese supplier check, including identity and business-role questions. Keep unresolved differences visible before approving payment.

Record when you checked the profile so you can compare any later change in company or production details.

How do you compare sellers for your actual order? #

Send each shortlisted seller the same product brief. Compare specification, sample, quantity, production timing, packaging and delivered cost on the same basis.

Consider a fictional order for 300 cotton tote bags, each 45 × 35 cm, with an agreed fabric specification and two-colour printing.

Seller A supplies a relevant sample, explains the printing process and confirms the workshop responsible. Seller B supplies an impressive facility report whose listed activities do not establish capability for those bags.

Keep asking for relevant evidence. Seller A still needs checking, while Seller B needs to explain how the proposed production arrangement meets the order. The size of a facility alone does not settle the comparison.

Arrange product samples from China and record your approval criteria. Compare the samples against the written brief rather than selecting whichever arrives first.

Also read the definitions behind any displayed ratings or activity figures. Some membership services include 1688 search weighting, so listing position should not replace your own product assessment.

What should you confirm before paying? #

Record the seller, agreed specification, quantity, price, delivery point and payment arrangement. Use a purchase order for your Chinese supplier to keep those details together.

Check the commitments attached to the actual listing and order. The published seller-guarantee terms link services to supported products, categories and online transactions. Do not assume every purchase carries identical return, dispatch or compensation terms.

Ask what happens if an inspection identifies a mismatch. Agree the response before production, and commission a suitable quality inspection in China where appropriate.

You can send this message:

Please confirm the registered Chinese business behind this shop and provide the relevant current assessment. Identify its type, date and production site. Explain who will manufacture my specified product, which work is outsourced and what evidence covers that product. Please also confirm the order's delivery, inspection and after-sales terms in writing.

If an agent places the order, agree how you will receive the supplier details, order record, inspection evidence and any after-sales updates. Keep responsibilities clear before funds move.

What questions do Nigerian buyers ask? #

Does a paid membership mean the seller is unreliable? #

No. Commercial membership and qualification checks can exist together. Assess the evidence and the order instead of treating payment for membership as proof of either reliability or fraud.

Does Chengxintong guarantee product quality? #

Its identity-check function does not establish that your particular product or batch meets the agreed specification. Review product evidence and arrange appropriate checks.

Does every deep assessment cover a factory? #

No. Check whether it is a factory assessment or a non-manufacturing business assessment, then read its scope.

Does Super Factory mean every listed item is made in-house? #

Ask where your exact item will be manufactured and request supporting evidence. Establish any outsourcing or associated-factory arrangement before approving production.

Is a screenshot of the badge enough? #

Use it to locate the current supplier profile and supporting information. Ask for clarification if you cannot connect the screenshot to the company offering your order.

Do these badges give Alibaba.com Trade Assurance? #

Do not transfer Alibaba.com protection terms to a 1688 order. Check the services, payment route and conditions attached to the actual 1688 transaction.

Should I always choose the supplier with more years or stars? #

Read what the displayed measure covers and compare relevant product evidence. Trading history can add context, but it does not approve your specific order.

Use 1688 seller badges to find questions worth asking. Confirm the business, relevant production capability, sample and written order before committing to a larger purchase.
