• Assume 60 gross bags per minute during five actual running hours.
• Gross output is 60 × 60 × 5 = 18,000 bags.
• Assume 540 bags are rejected.
• Accepted output is 18,000 − 540 = 17,460 bags.
• At 50 bags per bundle, that makes 349 complete bundles and 10 loose bags.

Suppose paper, handles, glue, ink, power and direct labour used for this fictional production total ₦1,047,600, including materials consumed in rejects.

The selected production cost is ₦1,047,600 ÷ 17,460 = ₦60 per accepted bag.

This excludes factory rent, depreciation, financing, administration, delivery, taxes and profit. Include the relevant costs before setting a selling price.

The five running hours are an assumption, not a complete shift or guaranteed availability. Use trial evidence and your own operating schedule to replace that assumption.

Check paper consumption from measured production records, including startup waste, trimming and rejects. Keep purchased paper, usable stock and finished goods in the same costing period.

Producing bags does not establish that customers will buy them. Test order sizes, payment terms and repeat demand before committing your working capital to machinery and raw materials.
